COUNTY MATCH REPORT

The County Team has completed two matches early this year.  The first being hosted by Eccles Archery Club against Shropshire and North Wales (27th April), and the second in Meriden, Warwickshire against Cheshire and Warwickshire (18th May).

The weather at Eccles was extremely showery and a bit cold but we battled through, even though Shropshire did not take up our challenge.  We were therefore left with North Wales alone and thus decided to let other members of the Squad and club archers shoot alongside the teams.  The match continued and Lancashire won the Recurve and Compound by score.  The longbows were drawn until the hits were taken into account and Lancashire eventually took the trophy.  Thanks go to Eccles for their efforts on the day and a splendid field party. Lancashire travelled to Meriden, in Warwickshire and took on the challenge of  Cheshire and Warwickshire.  The field was well presented and the weather was kind to us.  The match was shot in a single detail as there were only 3 archers per boss.  After a few moans everyone settled down and got on with it.  The Recurve team won by 400 points but the Compound team lost by 38 points.  We sat down to a splendid tea before we travelled back to our homes for a well deserved rest.  Full Match Results.

Both matches involved new archers and some archers returning from previous years, but I thank all of them on behalf of Lancashire for the efforts they put in.

The next match is in October and if anybody out there thinks that their abilities have been overlooked please get in touch, but remember you should only take into account scores achieved at open tournaments and preferably a FITA or York/Hereford.
